What is Acrovinyasa?

ACROVINYASA is an experience that gives us the opportunity to take our asanas from the earth to the air. ACROVINYASA merges vinyasa, with inversion training and acroyoga. The class begins with a solo vinyasa warm-up to tune us into our bodies and breath. Next we will do inversion training with the safety and support of a partner. Then comes the Acroyoga…Woohoo! For the acroyoga we will be in groups of three. We will now bring in elements of L-based acrobatic flying. One person will embody the role of the base, one the role of the flyer and one the role of the spotter. All three people in the group will have the opportunity to embody all three roles. The base will typically be lying on the ground with their legs up in the air at a 90 degree angle. The flyer will be the one ‘flying’ in the air on the base’s feet. The spotter will be supporting and assisting both the base and flyer. The spotter is the glue that holds it all together. Safety is our first concern… which is why we always have a spotter present in each group. The spotter also serves as the voice of communication between the base and the flyer and can help bring the flyer and base back into balance, when necessary. We want to have lots of fun but also want to make sure you have an enjoyable and safe practice. We use the safety word ‘Down’ to communicate that you want to come down from any of the inversion or acro asana. Acroyoga involves communication, trust and teamwork. It is a beautiful way to bring our community together so that we may support, love and encourage each other. It is very empowering to try something new and have others cheering for you while you do it. Yoga literally means union. Yoga is the practice and embodiment of connection with ourselves and all beings. ACROVINYASA is a lovely way to truly integrate ‘yoga’ into your life. You do not need to bring a partner to class with you, just show up and you will meet some new amazing people. All levels are welcome & encouraged.  ACROVINYASA was created by Claudine & Honza Lafond. The one thing they always remind us is… If you are having fun- You are doing it right! For more information on ACROVINYASA please check out their website: www.yogabeyond.com. We look forward to seeing you on the mat for some playtime, smiles & lots of laughter! Let’s fly
